about this project

Our client aimed to convert an existing basement room into a separate, open-plan apartment for an elderly relative. Due to access restrictions, approximately 180 tonnes of earth and concrete had to be methodically excavated and removed by hand through a small opening to street level, followed by underpinning the house.

We installed newly redesigned steel beams to replace the existing ones and constructed a reinforced concrete retaining wall to create a solid shell. The build was completed with the pouring of a reinforced concrete floor.
